Anthony Joseph DeLuca: A Whale in the Making
Becoming part of a legendary firm can, by association, make an investor legendary. By all accounts, Mr. Tony DeLuca would most certainly fit that description.
Anthony Joseph DeLuca is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Director at Moore Capital Management, a private investment management firm with offices in New York, London, and Washington, D.C. Founded in 1989 by Louis Bacon, the former Vice President of Trading at Shearson Lehman Brothers, Moore Capital Management has become one of the most iconic hedge-fund firms in the industry.
Having received his B.B.A. degree in Accounting from Pace University, Anthony Joseph DeLuca, commonly known as Tony, was a partner in the financial services practice of Ernst and Young; through that firm from 1984 to 1999, he serviced multinational financial institutions and investment managers for numerous advisory and assurance engagements.
Next, Mr. DeLuca joined the team at Morgan Stanley, where he first served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Asset Management Division from 1999 to 2003, and then held the position of Global Audit Director from 2003 to 2006.
It was in October of 2006 that Tony DeLuca joined Moore Capital Management, making him part of one of the oldest and most respected hedge-fund firms. Among Mr. DeLuca’s first tasks was to oversee the legal restructuring of Moore Europe Capital Management, the firm’s European arm.
Today, Moore Capital Management oversees $32.7 billion in regulatory AUM (assets under management) and has 442 employees, of which 216 perform investment advisory functions. A global macro investor, Moore Capital Management utilizes macroeconomic themes, cash, futures, and derivatives in its portfolios. Under the guidance of Founder Louis Bacon as well as Tony DeLuca, the fund participates in most of the global markets, basing positions on a careful evaluation of the future trends of inflation, economic growth, central bank policy, and national politics.
Besides his role at Moore Capital Management, Mr. DeLuca is a board member of the Managed Funds Association, The Warehouse Trust Company, the DTCC Data Repository, and DTCC Derivatives Repository Ltd. Additionally, Anthony earned a Lubin Golf Classic Alumni Award in 2007.
By standing on the shoulders of giants, one can eventually develop his own stature and become a giant in his own right. Working under and alongside the great Louis Bacon, Mr. Anthony Joseph DeLuca has come into his own as a financial whale.
