Stephen Siderow: Building a Great Partnership

Mr. Stephen Siderow has demonstrated how whales can work together to build a lasting and impactful financial institution. Along with his partner, Andrew Feldstein, Stephen co-founded Blue Mountain Capital Management LLC in 2003. Stephen manages the firm’s business development and strategy, and he is a member of the Blue Mountain’s management, compliance, and risk committees.

Mr. Siderow earned a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a B.A., magna cum laude, in philosophy from Amherst College.  Stephen was also a Fulbright Scholar and a Shelton Scholar in Israel.

Before starting Blue Mountain, Stephen Siderow was a senior consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on the financial services industry, serving senior management executives and CEOs on business strategy, organization and operations issues.  Prior to his time with McKinsey & Company, Mr. Siderow was a corporate attorney with Cleary Gottlieb.

Besides his duties at Blue Mountain, Mr. Siderow serves as vice chair of the board of directors of the Birthright Israel Foundation, a program that provides the gift of first-time peer education trips to Israel for young Jewish adults.  He also serves on the board of directors of Ars Nova, which provides training and development programs to young performing artists.  Moreover, Stephen is a member of the advisory board of the Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute at Mt. Sinai Hospital, whose mission is to advance the field of palliative medicine through clinical, educational, and research initiatives.

Together, Stephen and Andrew run Blue Mountain in New York and use cutting-edge strategies to recognize opportunities in the market.  With over ten years of experience and $21 billion in assets under management, Blue Mountain works with approximately 240 global professionals to provide attractive returns independent of macro outcomes and without “calling the market.”

Blending cutting-edge technology with human judgment, Blue Mountain analyzes opportunities across more than 10,000 investments daily.  At the same time, the firm utilizes a dedicated team of 30 research and sector specialists to pursue a broad spectrum of opportunities.

Stephen Siderow has helped Andrew Feldstein take Blue Mountain to the top, and this long-lasting collaboration has earned both partners both financial prosperity and whale status.
